Full Moon in Scorpio: The Alchemy of Thirst

a conclusion to the ~ venus & mars | fire & water ~ retrograde stories

dear lovers,

happy full moon. i’ve been thinking about & feeling into the alchemy of this full moon for a week now. special thanks to the brilliant energy & wisdom of the magician’s table cohorts i am a part of as their devoted 13th reader.

this scorpio full moon feels like a releaser to both venus retrograde and mars retrograde stories we’ve experienced; (1) more than a week before this lunation, mars in leo has passed the 6 degrees (where he stationed retrograde in the first week of december), and (2) a few days after this lunation, venus in aries will pass through the 10 degrees (where she stationed retrograde in early march). the lunation cycle is the conclusion for venus & mars beautiful shenanigans.

there is an elemental poetry with the luminary (sun - moon) being ruled by a fiery venus - mars, while the syzygy is in a fixed water sign, ruled by fixed fire mars. this is why i called it ALCHEMY - since one of the classic principles of alchemy is the integration of these two seemingly opposing elemental forces: fire & water. similarly during their retrograde phases, venus and mars underwent the fire-water alchemical process of aries + pisces & leo + cancer.

i coined the lunation as The Alchemy of Thirst because both venus and mars deal with the realms of overt and covert desires. also to acknowledge the recent intense watery tears and thirsty phase of having both malefics (mars & saturn) in water signs - that felt like forever. [i can’t wait for jupiter in cancer!]

this full moon in scorpio will be forming an overcoming trine to saturn in pisces. this trine marks the solidification of the supportive structures for you to deeply experience the death and rebirth of your thirst. of note, saturn in pisces has bound dignity in the final two degrees of pisces, a period i’ve been secretly waiting to embrace (May 2 - 25).

i have always loved anchoring lunations as important time-markers, and there are multiple ways of reflecting the past with this astrology. here are two examples of time-markers to help you with remembering, healing, integrating and transmuting stories of the past beyond the scope of mars & venus retrograde timings:

(1) the new moon in scorpio in early November 2024

this was when we had the most recent new moon in scorpio. cancer mars was at the anaretic degree then, and i remembered how my body was processing a lot of fear during that phase. there was a fear surrounding desirability and relationship breakdown, and there was a fear surrounding my material income at the time. whenever there are fears, there are also opportunities to flow with them. i actually performed sympathetic/embodiment magic by roleplaying as a bene gesserit as a tarot reader for a beloved queer community event.

looking back on the past 6+ months, i can’t believe how beautiful and liberating it is to measure my sense of bravery and relationship with fear from then to now! try it ~

(2) the full moon / lunar eclipse in scorpio around middle of May 2022

i chose this one because this was the most recent scorpio full moon that happens in the same decan as this current one: the face of venus. this was also the past lunation cycle when the greater benefic jupiter was crossing the threshold of pisces - aries, and we are expecting the greater malefic saturn to mimic the threshold-crossing on May 24/25. AGAIN - the water & fire alchemy.

on a personal note, i am looking forward to this lunation transformation phase between now until the upcoming new moon in gemini on May 26/27. i have been receiving multiple psychic and reality-affirming insights in the past month regarding the scorpio house topics (lunation) and the leo house topics (ruler of lunation) of my life.
